Biography

Dr. James F. McGrath is the Clarence L. Goodwin Chair in New Testament Language and Literature at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He holds a BD from the University of London and a PhD from the University of Durham, where his dissertation became his first book, John's Apologetic Christology. His academic work focuses on early Christianity and the New Testament, but he is also known for his work on John the Baptist and the Mandaeans, as well as the intersection of religion and science fiction. Dr. McGrath is a published author, editor, and maintains the blog ReligionProf on Patheos.
