John Dominic Crossan (D.D., Maynooth College, Ireland) is Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies, DePaul University, Chicago. He has written more than twenty books on the historical Jesus in the last thirty years, including bestsellers The Historical Jesus; Jesus: A Revolutionary Biography; and most recently, The Greatest Prayer. He is a former co-chair of the Jesus Seminar, a former chair of the Historical Jesus Section of the Society of Biblical Literature, and currently serves as president of the Society of Biblical Literature.
