Nina Livesey is Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and the College of Liberal Studies at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. A specialist in Jewish-Christian relations and Christian origins with emphasis on second-century Christianity, she has a Ph.D. from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, where she did her dissertation on circumcision in Philo, Paul, and Justin Martyr. She received her Masters of Theological Studies at Phillips Theological Seminary. Her thesis on “‘The Jew’ as Portrayed in the Exegesis of Romans,” was written under the supervision of Jesus Seminar Fellow Bernard Brandon Scott.
Livesey is the recipient of several awards, grants and prizes, including a Phillips Globalization Award in 1998 for travel to and attendance at the Eighth World Council of Churches Assembly in Zimbabwe, the Professors Book Award at Phillips in 2000 and the American Bible Society Book Award in 2001.
