Accommodations
All events will be held at the Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center at the Berkeley Marina, 200 Marina Boulevard in Berkeley, California. Each guest room includes either a balcony or patio, and is available with a view of the Berkeley Hills, the Courtyard, or the Marina. On-site hotel amenities include an indoor pool and spa, indoor lap pool, fitness center, and sauna.

The convention room rate at the Doubletree is $119 plus tax for single or double occupancy, king or double bed. There is a $15.00 per person additional charge for triple and quad occupancy. For reservations, call the hotel at 800-559-4655. To receive the group rate, be sure to mention the “Westar Institute” block or three-letter group code, “WET,” when you book your reservation. To register online, click here. A block of rooms will be held until October 25, after which time they will be released for sale to the general public and the room rate will no longer be guaranteed. So make your reservation early to be assured of a room and the rate.

Transportation

From Oakland International Airport (OAK):

• Take I-880 North
• Follow the signs for I-80 North to Sacramento/Berkeley
• Exit at University Ave
• Go 3 blocks and make a U-turn on 7th Street
• Cross over the freeway to Marina Boulevard
• Turn right onto Marina Boulevard

The Hotel is on the left.

From San Francisco International Airport (SFO):

• Take 101 North to I-80 East across the Bay Bridge
• Follow I-80 toward Berkeley/Sacramento
• Take the Powell Street Exit toward Emeryville
• Turn left at Powell Street
• Turn right at Frontage Road
• Turn left at University Avenue
• Make a right onto Marina Boulevard

From Sacramento:

• Take I-5 South (toward Sacramento)
• Take I-80 West (toward San Francisco)
• Follow I-80 to Berkeley/San Francisco
• Exit at University Avenue
• Make a left at the stop sign and head toward Marina Boulevard
• Turn right onto Marina Boulevard

Via BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit):

BART can be used from both the Oakland and San Francisco airports. The North Berkeley BART station is located about 2 miles from the hotel. The hotel has a 9 passenger van for hotel guests that runs every hour on the hour from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Pick up service at the BART station is available. Call the hotel’s main number (510-548-7920) when you are ready for pick up. The shuttle is also available for the return from the hotel to the BART station.

Hotel to Moscone West (location of AAR/SBL meeting):

Parking at the Doubletree
Parking is complementary for all Westar conference attendees, both for those staying at the Hotel and those driving in daily.

Dining around the Berkeley Marina
Located in the main building of the hotel, the waterfront Bay Grille features California cuisine and is open daily for Breakfast (Buffet available), Lunch, and Dinner. Bay Lounge, which is located right next to the Bay Grille, offers both limited and full Lunch and dinner menus. Room service is available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Additionally, the gift shop serves Starbucks coffee, pastries, light snacks, and drinks. Additional restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel.
